What do we do?

Privilege Sharing is committed to providing children in Janpur, Bihar (India) with access to education, community, and opportunities. At its heart is the Happy School – a place where children can not only learn, but also grow, develop, and shape their future.

Here you'll find various important points. If you still have questions, feel free to contact us using the contact form!

Enabling education since 2005

Since 2005, the Happy School has been run almost exclusively through donations from Switzerland. This long-term support ensures stability and reliability – two factors that are crucial for sustainable education.

The teachers are the heart of the school. They support the children every day with great dedication and are funded exclusively through donations. Their salaries are paid monthly, which gives them security and ensures the children receive continuous care.

Providing support tailored to needs

Our work is based on a simple yet effective principle: needs are identified directly on the ground.

Together with our contacts, Sanjay Kumar and Pappu Kumar, we continuously assess what is currently needed most urgently. We ensure that this specific support is delivered.

These include, amongst other things:

 Annual purchase of school supplies

Maintenance and repair of buildings and furniture

 Investment in infrastructure

More than just lessons: holistic support

We firmly believe that education is more than just lessons. Children also need social, creative and emotional experiences.

That is why we regularly support:

Cultural events such as dance performances, theatre shows or magic shows, joint cooking and dining sessions with children, their families and the neighbourhood, activities such as raffles, where children can have fun in a playful way

These experiences strengthen a sense of community, boost self-confidence and create precious memories.

School uniforms and a sense of belonging

School uniforms have significant social importance in India. They foster a sense of belonging, strengthen identification with the school and help to make social differences less visible. That is why we also fund school uniforms for the children.

Sustainability and self-sufficiency

The Happy School is committed to sustainability:

Trees are planted. They are fitted with protective fencing and can be symbolically named.

Arable farming is carried out on two plots of land, the proceeds of which also benefit the children.

International support – with personal commitment

People from various countries actively support the Happy School and visit the project on site. It is important to note that these trips are funded entirely privately and are not paid for out of donations.

Commitment in Switzerland

We are also actively working in Switzerland to raise additional funds. One example is the sale of Indian goods at markets such as the „Buchsi Märit“ in Münchenbuchsee.

100 per cent of the total proceeds from these sales go towards Privilege Sharing’s projects.

Transparency and structure

The Privilege Sharing association was founded in 2023 to organise and professionalise our support work. This enables us to issue donors with tax-deductible donation receipts and to operate reliably in the long term.

Targeted aid beyond the main project

Alongside our core commitment to the Happy School, there is, on rare occasions, scope for smaller-scale support outside the main project. This includes, for example, very small donations to an animal rescue centre in Greece or one-off assistance such as funding a heating system in a war zone.

It is important to note that such exceptions are made possible solely by specific donations from individuals who wish to give for this exact purpose. General donations continue to go entirely towards our main project, the Happy School.

These initiatives remain deliberate exceptions. Our focus is clearly and firmly on supporting the Happy School in the long term – where we can make a lasting impact and take on responsibility.

Ultimately, our focus remains clear:

The children’s wellbeing is our top priority. We do whatever is needed – directly, transparently and with a great deal of personal commitment.
